About Me – New

About Me – New Victor August 27, 2024

I am Bola (Hazel) Adesina

My name is shortened from Abimbola which means ‘born with wealth’. I am a British-Nigerian born in London to Nigerian parents and raised in multicultural London and multitribal Lagos within a mixed faith and mixed social class environment. I was fortunate to have a childhood full of rich experiences which has taught me to be empathetic and compassionate to those around me.
After completing my secondary education in Lagos, I left home in the mid-90s at the age of 18 to continue my studies in London. I studied Software Engineering at Newham College and Computer Science at the University of Westminster. With little financial support, I had to take up menial jobs to fund my way through college and university.
I have often been described as fearless and unflinching when it comes to doing the right thing, even if it is at my own expense. I have also been described as the following: a disruptor, lateral thinker, risk-taker, visionary, energetic, passionate and honest.

I have always had a fascination with people, in particular, our differences in class, experience, identity, ethnicity. I am especially intrigued by how we can transcend these differences, at times deviating from the norm, to reach positive outcomes. And this is where my passion, drive, and commitment to influence workplace and societal change stems from.

I help create a respectful, harmonious and culturally cohesive workplace. This has led me to establish my consulting business that focuses on inclusion and the ethical aspects of Artificial Intelligence through effective governance. I have leant on my wealth of experience in the asset management industry and the City of London to drive meaningful change.

My philosophy is: making the uncomfortable comfortable, by building lasting societal change, one workplace at a time.

Let's work together
